Maria is a Romanian-Canadian illustrator based in Edinburgh. She cares about feminism, the state of the world, and making things look nice. She moved to Scotland to study illustration and loved it too much to leave. Maria primarily makes non-fiction comics, including comics journalism and diary comics. Her graphic novel, Take it as a Compliment, is a collection of real-life stories of sexual violence. Her comics have appeared in The New Yorker, The Nib and anthologies such as Drawing Power and We Shall Fight Until We Win. She enjoys making zines and is probably checking the news right now.
